Academic delegation from the University of Melbourne visits JMI

A high level academic delegation from the prestigious University of Melbourne, Australia visited Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI).  Prof. Sara Begum, Dean Faculty of Education warmly welcomed them in the Seminar Hall of the Faculty. An Interactive Programme between faculty members and the delegation was organized to share the experiences. Prof. Sara Begum briefed them about the glorious past of the faculty and how it evolved from Teachers Training Institute (TTI) into Faculty of Education.

Prof. Jessy Abraham, Head, Department of Teacher Training & Non-Formal Education (IASE) highlighted the significance of the department and its unique craft based teacher education programmes.

Prof. Arshad Ikram Ahmad, Head, Department of Educational Studies highlighted the meaningful contribution of the department made in the field of research, innovation, educational technology, development of e-content and other resources and training of in-service teachers and principals. He said that the department is progressing with leaps and bounce with the dynamic faculty members of the department and there is a kind of rejuvenation in the department. He also discussed how different programme got introduced in the department with the passage of time.

The delegation members were very impressed to see such a diverse, inclusive and dynamic nature of the faculty. They especially visited Interior Decoration Lab. in IASE and were very overwhelmed to see the creative and innovative work of the students. They took photos, recorded videos and interacted with Dr. Shadma Yasmeen, the In-charge of the Lab. They showed very keen interest to establish bilateral educational and cultural ties between JMI and University of Melbourne and a MoU between the two universities is likely to be signed soon to initiate exchange programme.

Dr. Mohammad Asjad Ansari, Assistant Proctor and Programme Coordinator D.El.Ed. proposed formal vote of thanks and with this the programme was concluded.
