Lt. Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena today inaugurated a musical fountain at Baansera

The Lt. Governor, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena today inaugurated a musical fountain at Baansera – the one of its kind public amusement facility created on the banks of River Yamuna. The musical fountain has been installed in one of the three water bodies created at Baansera that would add to the aesthetics of the bamboo-themed park and provide the people of Delhi with a new leisure and amusement facility in the heart of the National Capital.

Delhi Chief Secretary, Shri Naresh Kumar and DDA Vice Chairman, Shri Subhasish Panda were also present on the occasion.To begin with, two musical fountain shows -at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM – will be held from Tuesday to Sunday every week on paying a nominal fee. Entry will be free for children up to 10 years and school-children accompanied by parents/teachers/guardians.

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble LG said, “Delhi needs many such places for entertainment and leisure. Baansera is one of them developed by DDA and many projects are in pipeline.”

The fountain, funded and set up by DMRC under its CSR Program, is equipped with digitally colour changing LED lights of grid size of 90 metres long, having multiple water effects & shapes with ultra-fast action jets. It has two modes- Auto Frequency Mode and Pre-Programmed Mode. The fountain has day time running water features which includes, 8 high column jets & one centre high jet going upto 30-50 feet. It will additionally provide aeration to the pond water during day time.

To enhance the ecological character of Yamuna floodplains and make it more people friendly by making it attractive as a recreational and cultural venue, LG, Shri Saxena had laid the foundation of ‘Baansera’ in August 2022 and the same was developed in a record time of just 6 months. More than 25,000 special variety of Bamboo saplings, brought from Assam were planted here. Baansera aims at providing the people of Delhi with the much needed public spaces in the Capital on one hand, and also ensure that the rich biodiversity of the flood plane is preserved and maintained.

DDA’s well-known Projects for Restoration and Rejuvenation of the floodplains of River Yamuna are being carried out as an initiative to enhance the ecological character of the floodplains and to make them accessible to the public at large. The Baansera Project, conceived and guided by the LG himself, will take such initiatives to the next level.
