Aligarh: The Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery witnessed the inauguration of the Annual Art Exhibition of the Department of Fine Arts students which unfolded its treasures. Graced by the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez and Women’s College Principal Prof. Naima Khatoon, the event marked a celebration of creativity and vision. A catalogue showcasing the artworks of the exhibitors was also released during the event.
With the Registrar Mr Mohammad Imran, IPS, and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof. Arif Nazir as guests of honour, the exhibition unveiled around two hundred artworks spanning various genres. From traditional forms like still life, landscape, and portraits to contemporary expressions integrating digital technology and photography, the display mirrored the diverse sensibilities of the budding artists.
During his speech, the Chief Guest of the event, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Gulrez, praised the depth of talent displayed, underlining the significance of acknowledging and fostering it outside the realm of academia. Prof. Naima Khatoon, who inaugurated the exhibition, reiterated this sentiment, applauding the students’ enthusiasm and the outstanding quality of their artwork.
Acknowledging the pivotal role of the Art Gallery Coordinator, Prof. Badar Jahan, in providing a platform for student recognition, Dean Prof. Arif Nazir lauded the efforts to promote artistic endeavours within the institution. The Registrar, visibly impressed by the volume and calibre of the artworks, expressed optimism about the students’ prospects in the field. Prof. Badar Jahan highlighted the significance of presenting art for public appreciation, underscoring the gallery’s role as a student expression and recognition conduit. Dr. Talat Shakeel, Chairperson of the Department of Fine Arts, reflected on the dedication and passion evident in each artwork, affirming the exhibition as a testament to students’ creative journey throughout the year.
The exhibition’s convergence of artistic vision and skill invites visitors and art enthusiasts to explore its offerings until March 12th. Art enthusiasts have the opportunity to acquire pieces directly from the venue.
