*The sports complex at Qutubgarh has many facilities like multipurpose playfield, jogging track, two badminton courts, volleyball court, Akhara for males and females

*Extended air-conditioned multipurpose hall

*Centres of Excellence in many sports coming up in Dwarka and Rohini

In line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision for healthy lifestyle for the people of the country, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, Hon’ble Lt. Governor Delhi, today inaugurated a sports complex at Qutubgarh Village, which has been adopted by him to develop as a model village.

Shri Hans Raj Hans, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, North West Delhi and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

The foundation stone of the sports complex was laid in October last year and the entire project has been completed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore.

Speaking at the occasion, Hon’ble Lt Governor said that sports play an important role to keep us fit. Realising this, Hon’ble Prime Minister launched Fit India movement in the year 2019 so that fitness becomes an integral part in our daily life, which has become a huge success.

He further said, “I am confident that many players from Qutubgarh will represent India at International level and bring laurels and medals for our country.”

Hon’ble Lt Governor appreciated the role of DDA in transforming Qutubgarh, adding that his endeavour is to build a sports complex in every village of Delhi.

 “I want children to get advanced training in various sports facilities, for which Indian Oil and Indian army have agreed to provide experienced coaches and very soon we will get see advance coaching facilities.”

The sports complex at Qutubgarh has many facilities like multipurpose playfield, jogging track, two badminton courts, volleyball court, akhara for male and female, kabaddi ground, open gym equipment with rubberized floor, among others. Besides, there is an extended air-conditioned multipurpose hall of about 216 sqm.

DDA has played a pivotal role in building sports infrastructure and promotion of sports in the national capital. At present, DDA has 16 sports complexes, 3 mini sports complexes, 2 public golf courses, 17 swimming pools and 40 multigyms.

Besides, Centres of Excellence are being developed in many sports like wrestling, weightlifting, boxing, judo, kabaddi, tennis, shooting, football, hockey in various sectors of Dwarka and Centre of Excellence in aquatics in Sector 33 Rohini. A public golf course is also being developed at Sector 24 Dwarka.
