Patna. September 25. There is some very good news for art enthusiasts, especially women. In a joint collaborative awareness program of EIACP-CSEC and JSS of Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI), it was announced that ADRI is going to get trainers to impart skills of Sikki art-making to aspirants over about 10 days, beginning from October 8. Sikki Art is a GI-tagged much-in-demand traditional Bihari handicraft where artisans use golden-colored Sikki grass to weave sophisticated and environmentally-friendly handicrafts items like baskets, mats, picturesque images, etc. MoECC, Government of India is promoting such endeavors through entities like ADRI to attain its sustainable development goals. Sikki art can help its practitioners to earn handsomely and ADRI is also going to assist the trainees in the marketing of their Sikki products. EIACP-ADRI Coordinator Mousumi Gupta welcomed all those present, including numerous JSS trainees.

This event was part of the ongoing two-week Sewa Parv to promote cleanliness. There are also plans to impart skills in fields like apiculture and hydroponics. A painting competition for ADRI members on the theme of “save the environment” was also organized on the occasion. Sandeep Kumar, Director of JSS; and Dr. Sunil Gupta, Gulshan Patel and Ms. Pooja Kumari of CSEC also worked diligently to make the event a success.
