India, 31 March 2026: Somdet Phra Thirayanamuni, abbot of Wat Debsirindrawas and a distinguished member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, recently visited the Buddha Cancer Medical Centre in Patna, accompanied by a delegation of 20 disciples from Thailand.
During his visit, the revered Buddhist monk appreciated the cancer care services being provided to underprivileged patients from Bihar and Jharkhand. He commended the institution for its steadfast commitment to delivering quality oncology treatment to economically weaker sections of society.
In a significant contribution, Thirayanamuni donated five modern ICU beds to enhance the centre’s critical care infrastructure. He also laid the foundation stone for a new building at the facility through traditional Buddhist chanting rituals, marking a key milestone in the centre’s expansion plans.
The monk interacted with nearly 50 admitted cancer patients, offering prayers and blessings for their speedy recovery. Hospital officials noted that his presence brought a sense of hope and encouragement to patients and their families.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Kumar said, “Visits by global spiritual leaders not only uplift the morale of our medical team but also provide immense emotional support to cancer patients and their caregivers.”
