Madhepura: In a significant development, the RJD (Rashtriya Janta Dal) nominee for the Madhepura parliamentary constituency, Professor Dr. Kumar Chandradeep, has filed his nomination papers at the district election office today. A large number of party workers accompanied Professor Dr. Kumar Chandradeep to collectorate, where he filed his nomination papers with the district election officer-cum-district Magistrate of Madhepura, Shri Vijay Prakash Meena.

Professor Chandradeep is a senior faculty member in the English Department of the College of Commerce, Arts & Science, Patna. He is one of the son’s of the widely popular politician of the Kosi area, Professor Ramendra Kumar Yadav ‘Ravi’, who represented Madhepura as a Member of parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha between 1989-1991. He was also elected as a Member of parliament in the Rajya Sabha for two full terms from 1992-2004. He was one of the close members of the group comprising of Lalu Yadav and Sharad Yadav.

For the politically conscious Madhepura parliamentary constituency, the selection of Professor Chandradeep by the RJD leadership headed by Lalu Yadav and Tejaswi Yadav, appears to be a smart move. In a very short span of time, Professor Chandradeep, being a son of a local politician, has struck near instant familiarity with the voters of Madhepura constituency. His father, Professor Ravi was a household name.

Madhepura, a bastion of the Mandal Politics, is going to witness a tough fight between the RJD candidate, Professor Chandradeep; and the JD (U) candidate and the sitting MP, Dinesh Chandra Yadav. This is widely believed that Professor Chandradeep would reap huge benefits out of his father’s popularity among the people of Madhepura district. Moreover, Professor Chandradeep himself is quite educated and politically suave. A contested political environment is expected to emerge in the important parliamentary constituency of the Kosi Division of Bihar.
