A fire that broke out on Saturday night in the Shaheen Bagh area of southeast Delhi destroyed two shops and two apartments. Officials reported no casualties.

At 5:44 PM, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call reporting a fire in the electric lines outside the Zaika Restaurant on 40 Foota Road in Shaheen Bagh, according to news agency PTI.

After approximately eighteen fire tenders arrived at the scene, the fire was brought under control within about fifteen minutes. “Two flats also caught fire, but thankfully, no one was injured in the incident,” stated a resident.

A police official suggested that a short circuit in the electrical cables outside the Zaika Restaurant likely ignited the fire. “The intensity of the fire was so high that it quickly spread to the restaurant and the neighbouring establishments. Due to the narrow lanes, DFS vehicles took some time to reach the spot,” he added, as reported by PTI.

According to the police, the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined. An officer stated, “A case is being registered, and further investigations are underway,” as reported by PTI.
