On the occasion of International Youth Day, Peace clubs were launched in Jamia Senior Secondary School(JSSS) and Syed Abid Hussain Senior Secondary School (SAHSSS), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI). The event took place on 12th August 2024 in the Multi Purpose Hall of the JSSS.
The event started with a recitation of Holy Quran after Dr Mohd Arshad Khan Principal, JSSS officially welcomed guests by presenting them saplings followed by his welcome address.
Mr M. Naseem Haidar, Officiating Registrar, JMI, Mr Krishna Adhikari, Secretary General, Universal Peace Federation of India, Dr Abid Husain, Coordinator, Peace Club of JMI(Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology & Assistant DSW, JMI), Mrs Shagufta Shandar Khan, Incharge, SAHSSS, teachers and students were present during the event. An intensive introduction to the JMI Peace Clubs was presented by Dr Abid Husain.
Mr Krishna Adhikari presented mementos and certificates of recognition to Mr M. Naseem Haidar, Dr Mohd Arshad Khan, Dr Abid Husain and Mrs Shagufta Shandar Khan to honour the launching of Peace clubs in two of the schools run by JMI.
Some cultural programs such as songs, performance with tabla and skits were presented by the students of the school after which the Peace club was officially launched. Certificates were given to the students who officially became a part of the newly launched club.
In his address to students Mr Krishna Adhikari stressed upon the need for peace in the world. He emphasized on all the chaos, conflicts present in the world and how they can be averted with peace.
Mr Naseem Haidar, Officiating Registrar, JMI also addressed students and motivated them to study better, to be more focused and to learn how to be peaceful in moments of chaos and stress.
The event came to an end with a vote of thanks presented by Mrs Kanchan Bhardwaj, PGT Hindi & Coordinator Peace Club, JSSS.
