Jamia Badminton League (JBL) 2024 successfully concludes with a Prize Distribution Ceremony

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) held a prize distribution ceremony to celebrate the conclusion of the Jamia Badminton League (JBL) 2024, an inter-faculty and office staff badminton tournament. The event was honored by the attendance of the esteemed Vice Chancellor of JMI Prof. Mazhar Asif, who served as the Chief Guest, along with the Registrar of JMI Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, who acted as the Guest of Honour. Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) Prof. Neelofer Afzal, Chief Proctor Prof. Naved Jamal and other staff members were present at the function.  Additionally, several guests from Gauhati University were in attendance for this occasion. .

The JBL 2024, which commenced two weeks ago, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 5 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams from various departments. After a series of thrilling matches, the University Polytechnic team emerged as the winner, while the Central Office team secured the runner-up position in the men’s category. The Faculty of Dentistry team was awarded the second runner-up position. In the women’s category Faculty of Engineering secured first position and Faculty of Dentistry was the runner up team.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JMI, congratulated the winners and appreciated the participation of all teams. He emphasized the importance of participation in sports and extracurricular activities for the overall well-being of teaching and non-teaching staff.   The Registrar, JMI, delivered a motivational speech and stressed the significance of maintaining good health.

Prof. Nafis Ahmad, Hony. Director of Games & Sports, expressed his appreciation for the participants from all the faculties, with particular commendation for the women’s  teams. He also encouraged the faculties that did not participate to increase their involvement in the upcoming season of JBL.

The organising team of JBL-024 includes Professor Nafis Ahmad, Hony. Director Games & Sports; Professor Nadeem Yunus, Organising Secretary; and Mr. Mohammed Waseem, Joint Organising Secretary.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all contributors by Professor Nafis Ahmad.
