The poster for the second convocation ceremony and the 11th art exhibition ‘Abhivyanjana’ of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA) was launched on Friday. During a press conference at the university guest house, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha launched the poster. During this, Controller of Examinations Dr. Ajay Kaushik, Faculty Coordinator Mahesh TP, Ajay Bahu Joshi, Vinay Kumar, and Dr. Shaili Khanna were also present.
SUPVA’s Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya stated that the second convocation ceremony will be celebrated on May 4 on the university campus. The ceremony will be presided over by the Governor of the State and Chancellor of the University, Prof. Asim Kumar Ghosh, who will distribute the degrees. After coming into existence in 2014, this is SUPVA’s second convocation ceremony; the first convocation was held in 2021. In this convocation, happening after five years, degrees will be distributed to 760 students who have successfully completed their graduation and post-graduation studies. Dr. Arya said that during the convocation, 35 meritorious students will be awarded gold medals. During this time, degrees will also be awarded to 42 students of the 2018 batch of the Film and Television Faculty. These are the students whose degrees were pending due to the incomplete course.
Dr. Arya stated that during the convocation ceremony, the Chief Minister of the state, Nayab Singh Saini, will be present as the chief guest, while the Education Minister, Mahipal Dhanda, will be the distinguished guest. During this time, officials from various departments including Education, Technical Education, and Finance of the state, as well as members of the University Court, Executive Council, Academic Council, etc., have also confirmed their presence. Preparations are in full swing to make the convocation ceremony memorable. The university campus is being specially decorated. For its success, various organizing committees have been formed, and different responsibilities have been assigned. All students and their guardians have been invited to be a part of the event.
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha stated that DLCSUPVA is the only government university in the country providing art and cultural education, where quality education in music, dance, drama, fine arts, planning and architecture, design, visual arts, etc., is being offered. Students educated here are bringing recognition to the SUPVA family, the state, and the country at both national and international levels. He said that this event is not just an opportunity to obtain a degree, but also a chance to honour the hard work and dedication of the students.
‘Abhivyanjana’ starts on May 3, public entry from May 5.
Dr. Amit Arya, Vice-Chancellor of SUPVA, stated that the exhibition ‘Abhivyanjana’ for art lovers will begin on May 3 at the Faculty of Design campus. This exhibition will be open for school and college students, art enthusiasts, and the general public from May 5 and will continue until May 8. ‘Abhivyanjana’ is the 11th annual art exhibition of the Faculty of Visual Arts at SUPVA. It will feature works created over the year by students from the first to the final year of undergraduate and postgraduate visual arts programs. The purpose of the exhibition is to provide students with a platform where they can present their creativity, technical skills, and artistic vision to the public. He mentioned that on May 3 and 4, the exhibition will be open only for guests and invited visitors. The general public will be able to view it from May 5 to 8.
‘Abhivyanjana’ will connect society with contemporary art
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said that in ‘Abhivyanjana,’ artworks by students from various departments of the Faculty of Visual Arts, including Animation, Multimedia, Applied Arts, Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking, will be displayed. This confluence of traditional and modern art styles will provide the audience with diverse experiences. From digital art to classical painting and three-dimensional sculpture, glimpses of every medium will be visible here. Dr. Arya said that this annual event showcasing art and ideas has become a hallmark of SUPVA. ‘Abhivyanjana’ is not only an opportunity for students to showcase their talent but also a means to connect society with contemporary art. Art enthusiasts visiting the exhibition will have a rich and inspiring experience, which will deepen their understanding of art.
