To enhance civic infrastructure and ensure quality life to people in Delhi’s villages, Hon’ble Lt. Governor Delhi, Shri VK Saxena today laid foundation stone of 47 developmental projects worth around Rs 45 crore in 29 villages of North Delhi under Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan (DGA).
Last week, Hon’ble Lt. Governor inaugurated 22 developmental projects in 18 urbanised villages of South West Delhi, reflecting the pace of work undertaken in this Abhiyan.Hon’ble Lt Governor also inspected various developmental works undertaken, including road and drain work, renovation of cremation ground at Singhu Village. Besides, plantation was done under “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam” campaign and fruit saplings were distributed to the villagers. To empower women and their self-help groups, Drone Didi programme was also inaugurated.Shri Yogender Chandolia, Hon’ble MP, North West Delhi and Shri Subhasish Panda, ViceChairman DDA were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Lt Governor said, “the developmental works undertaken in the villages will have huge and positive transformation in the life of the villagers,” adding rural Delhi will have all the amenities in the coming days.
He further said that ‘NaMo Drone Didi Scheme’ is inspired by the Honorable Prime Minister.
“This scheme will not only empower women but will also become a source of livelihood for their families,” he added. ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan’ was launched in December 2023 to improve living conditions in villages by extending civic amenities. For development of these villages, Gram Sabha Area Fund of about Rs 960 crore that was lying unused with Delhi Government, was transferred to DDA for undertaking various developmental works in villages of Delhi.Hon’ble Lt Governor is spearheading various works to address rural challenges and to ensure that development works through various civic agencies like DDA, MCD, I&FC, etc. are effectively implemented. Till date, 573 works worth Rs 523 crore have been sanctioned under this Abhiyan. These include 89 projects of DDA.The civic bodies are collectively executing numerous works which include renovation of Jaat Chaupal, Valmiki Chaupal, Julaha Chaupal, Brahmin Chaupal, MPCC in village Khera Kalan;Rana Chuapal, Arya Samaj Mandir Chuapal in village Mukhmelpur; Balmiki Chuapal at Tiggipur Village; Jaat Chaupal at village Nangli Poona; Balmiki Chaupal in 6 no Gali at Libaspur village.
Additionally, works are in progress for the improvement and development of lanes and of roads and drains in many villages of Narela zone, namely: Lampur, Bawana, Sannoth, Ghoga, Bankner, Barwala, Prahladpur, KheraGarhi, Sultanpur Dabas, Shahbad, Ramjanpur, Pooth Khurd, Akbarpur Majra, Alipur, Singhu, Khera, Holambi Kalan, Katewara, Harewali. Cremation ground and approach roads are being developed at village Prahladpur Banger; construction of existing cremation ground is being done in Bhorgarh, while repair/renovation of cremation grounds at village Ghoga, Nangal Thakran and Sultanpur Dabas is also being carried out.The various works undertaken under this Abhiyan are related to road infrastructure development, development of community spaces such as parks, playgrounds, public toilets, community halls, hostels, land protection from encroachment, construction of cremation grounds/cemeteries/kabristaan, sports facilities, public libraries, gaushalas, installation of street lights and CCTVs, afforestation alongside roads/nallas and any other works.
