Guwahati: Police Arrest Robbery Gang Involved in Multiple Burglaries

A gang of burglars was apprehended by the Guwahati police on Saturday night, following an investigation into a series of robberies across the city. The arrests were made by officers from the Latasil Police Station.

The suspects have been linked to multiple robberies and house break-ins in Guwahati over the past few months. One of the incidents was captured on CCTV footage, which was later shared with the public and led to further investigation by the police.

According to police sources, the gang consists of six members, five of whom are from Dalgaon in Darrang district, Assam. One member, identified as a cab driver working with Uber, is also part of the group. The gang is said to have planned their burglaries by regularly traveling to Guwahati, committing the crimes, and then returning to their home region.

The arrested individuals have been named as Sadek Ali, Akbar Ali, Lokman Ali, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Saidul Rahman, all from Darrang, and Joynal Abdin, from Barpeta district. Additionally, police arrested Dilwar Khan, who is accused of receiving the stolen goods. Khan has previously been arrested on three occasions for similar offenses.
